THE CHROME REPORT
Too much chrome is never enough. Yes it's true I am becoming a chromaholic and the cure is relatively simple but slightly expensive. It's all about adding chrome accessories and parts also known as "farkle" to the motorcycle. Here are the latest additions to the Road Star. All are Yamaha parts so far. New luggage rack. bought it on E-Bay but should have used South Seattle Yamaha our regular supplier. This helps hold the Sissy bar luggage up and keeps it from scrapping the fender. Rear brake fluid reservoir, now chrome. Decompression lever cover. Replaced the painted cover with a chrome cover. It's the little cover to the left of the word Yamaha.
Ignition key chrome ring, at the right on top of the speedometer. No more black rubber ring around the ignition key area, now it's chrome. Chrome Mufflers. They have always been chrome, but these are new. Due to one of the header pipe heat shields coming loose/broken I bought a whole new set of pipes and mufflers-attached by Johney member STAR Chapter 230. Front brake fluid reservoir cover in chrome. Chrome engine guards. These are not new, but have been a major factor in keeping the Road Star from sustaining any major damage.

STAR trip to IMS motorcycle show
Today Saturday, 12/06 our regular chapter/group ride was to the IMS motorcycle show in Long Beach. This is my third year visiting the show but the first on a motorcycle, and my first group ride with Chapter 230 in 3-4 months. Between taking a spill and a kidneystone, my riding has been limited for the past 4 months or so, until the Death Valley trip detailed below. The show is mostly a showcase for the major motorcycle manufacturers along with various vendors for all kinds of products. The ride started out with a meeting and vote for next years president which happens to be Dan our current president who is running unopposed and for good reason. He's doing a good job along with Terry for VP. Our usual gathering place in Orange. We arrived at the L.B. Convention Center and head for the Yamaha booth. That's Bob Barbano trying to sell a Yamaha. There's Lynne trying on the new V-Star 950. Here's the new Kawasaki Voyager 1700 with Ken trying to figure out how to pay for it. New 2008 Road Star with Vance and Hines pipes. Kids as little as 5 years old. This is a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, it is a token picture just to show I am not biased. There was a Road Star Midnight on display with over $9,800 worth of extra chrome/billet custom add-ons and it still had room for more, total cost was around $23,000 Taking a walk over to Islands for lunch. Lots of collector and antique motorcycles. Now we saved the best for last...I bought a pair of leather chaps to wear over my pants on those cold/wet rides in the coming winter. Got a pretty good deal I thought, paid $60 for them at a booth as Johney and I wandered around. guess who had to try them on? That's Jenny trying the much too tall chaps on. Now we all promised not to laugh, but....
