On the road to:

Boron California! Here is the only picture we took on this trip on Thursday Dec 7, 2006. Other rider was Jim/Nubiker from Azusa. He was riding his Honda VLX 600cc, really does very well on it, and a fun riding buddy. I Left Placentia about 8:30 arrived up in La Verne and met Jim at about 9:30. We took off on the 210 Fwy heading east up to the 15 going up the Cajon Pass. Exited the 15 Fwy at the 395 exit. 395 is a busy road with 2 lane each way for several miles then it's down to one lane each way and full of trucks. Lots of new homes going up along the 395 heading north out of Hesperia. The trucks were usually going at a good speed so not really backed up. I got in front of one truck as we entered a passing zone and I just knew I better get out of his way so I pulled over in front of a Crystal Geyser truck and sure enough the semi behind me just shot ahead. He was empty and wanted to get there fast. It's about 42 miles to Boron and Hwy 58 which arrived in no time it seemed. We stopped at a Burger King and after I sat down realized I was more tired than I thought. Maybe it was the cold temps along with keeping up with traffic but I noticed it right after I sat down.

After a break and gas (1.4 gal) we headed out east on 58 to Barstow. Didn't actually go to Boron as it is west on Hwy 58 a couple miles. Here's a Google Earth image of beautiful downtown Boron.

The road to Barstow was very open, good riding and little traffic but a lot of desert on both sides. We hit U.S. 15 at Lenwood and stopped at the outlet shopping center for a break and then headed over to old Rte 66 back to Victorville. Very interesting road, still some old buildings that probably go way back, maybe even to when I came to California with my parents on Hwy 66 back in 1952!

We connected back to the 15 and then on down the Cajon Pass back to the 210 and we parted company. I headed on home to Placentia. Stopped one more time for gas and needed 3.4 gal. Total miles approx. 250, and arrived back at around 3:30 for about 6 hour total.
