We help Tomy load the truck to Alabama
Tomy AKA Tomy Two Tone is heading for Alabama to join up with his wife who already moved to Alabama due to a job commitment. He rented a very big 53 ft. truck to load all his wordly possessions and amazingly it all fit. When I first arrived it looked like a huge task but step by step it all got loaded into the truck. The refrigerator, freezer, all the cabinets, sofas and even the motorcycle.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A WRINKLE RIDER?
The Wrinkle Rider credo and qualification mantra.
1. An interest in motorcycling is a paramount feature of this organization and is the central theme surrounding all the requirements and conditions to be a true Wrinkle Rider. It's not about what motorcycle brand or model you own or ride but that you have a passion for all things motorcycle. This includes motorcycle models especially cruisers, various clothing and gear items including jackets with armor, chrome, modifications to various elements of mechanical operation and repair or electrical components and even a subscription to a motorcycle magazine will help in your quest for qualification.
2. Naturally to be a true Wrinkle Rider a number of wrinkles or lines or folds around the face or elsewhere, indicating some level of experience in life due to age is a major requirement, unless of course you are young and/or female then this issue is waived regardless.
3. Mileage on the motorcycle or on yourself or a combination of both is a major enhancement to your fulfilling the goals of being a true Wrinkle Rider and will help in maintaining our high standards of membership.
4. "Ride to eat" A major component of membership is a desire to sample various eating establishments near and far and partaking of any number of new or select types of food. Several food dishes and menu items have special merit including chili, hamburgers, Bar-B-Cue(BBQ) especially ribs, brisket and pulled pork, pizza or a variety of Italian foods, Mexican dishes, Black and White cookies, Deli foods including pastrami, corn beef and other sandwiches, beef jerky, smoked sausage (a new addition-see below) and other delicacies except Chinese food for some unknown reason.
5. Maintaining road discipline in group riding. This is not a big issue here as long as you do not run into a fellow rider, turn in front of them or in any way cause another rider to have a mishap, what the heck do we care. Just arrive safely, maintain spacing but ride your own ride at your own safe pace and enjoy the ride.
6. Dues, meetings, requirements. Apparently no one really likes to be bothered by responsibilities of administration, record keeping, dues collection, mileage records, attendance forms etc. therefore these are not an issue of this organization. However since we all like titles for rockers etc. for a small but reasonable fee you may choose a title appropriate to your interest in contributing to the treasury. Road Captain is available for $90, Tail Gunner is now priced at $50, Shepherd and Sargeant at Arms are available for $35 and other titles will be awarded as situations warrant. There is no plan for a club Chaplain ever. We hope the big money will be in logo patches for vests but have no plans as yet to print any so watch for further info on these areas. ¶ 12:25 AM 1 comments

Awards are handed out to deserving officers and ride leaders.
Terry and president Dan. Dan is forced to tell us the story of Mr. Happy on the Billings/STAR trip. I know exactly what he is referring to in telling about a Cracker Barrel server.
Good wrap up to the meal and all the comraderie.
I did not win the Most Sarcastic trophy this year. I tried, but my e-mail and forum messages went too much for comedy and not enough sarcasm. It also became apparent that no trophy is awarded in that category anyway, so no use in trying again for next year.

THE SAUSAGE TOUR -- OR -- WE RIDE FOR SAUSAGE!
While on the Death Valley ride, John R. let us sample some sausage sticks he bought down toward San Diego near the former Anderson Split Pea stop on Palomar Road & the 5 Fwy. So naturally we had to give it a try on a breakfast run. Joining the ride this Saturday are Johney-our resident Ride Captain; Luis and Minita on the Strat-he's one amazing rider; Charlie and Carol on the Stratoliner, Barry on his first return ride; John R. wearing just a long sleeve shirt and vest and super Tail-gunner; Richard on the Road Star with a winter jacket; and eventually the ever surprising Wayne, who joined up with a totally unknown group thinking it was us until we rode past and waved at his STAR emblem jacket. It was at that point that he realized whooops, I'm riding with the wrong group.

This is the Tip Top restaurant, grocery store and meat packing and sausage making German all-in-one location.
I can tell you the sausage sticks called "Landjaeger/Cervelat" are worth the trip. Breakfast was excellent, I had the sausage and eggs and they did serve their own unique sausage. Both John/Johney ordered a different sausage and they were huge. The store is stocked with tons of German foods, a complete butcher shop and sausages of ALL kinds. We left Orange at 8 am and return by about 11:45 am. Open to anyone that wants to join up.

FTC or the FEED THE CHILDREN organization is sponsored by Yamaha at the Cypress main headquarters in conjunction with Star Touring and Riding and helps distribute needed supplies to families in the community that can use some extra household and food items plus toys in these tight economic times.
This is my first year helping out and I'm impressed at the effort Yamaha is making to welcome us and treat us to breakfast and lunch.
I arrive at about 7:15 am and they have tents and cooking facilities already set up to feed all the other arriving STAR members a nice pancake breakfast.

This was just sitting out here by the entrance along with other Star Models
Several presentations including a large check to Feed The Children really helps a lot.
Boxes are unloaded so we each can carry one on our motorcycle to the distribution center at a church about five miles away.
We then saddle up and in a long line of two rows of motorcycles head out on to the street and are cheered on by a large contingent of Yamaha employees-very impressive. We are escorted by several police cars with sirens blaring and lights flashing and just zip through red lights and everyone gets out of our way.
Lots of motorcycles, all STAR members from chapters in all of Southern California and even Stockton.
The boxes are unloaded from the motorcycles and also the huge trailer and we get ready to hand them out as cars arrive with people holding little red cards indicating how many sets of boxes they will get.

RIDE TO SAVE THE CHICKENS
SAVE THE CHICKENS!
Imagine the horror of it all. Thousands upon thousands and even, dare we say, millions of chickens are slaughtered every day! These poor helpless chickens are given food that lulls them into a false sense of security only to have the mask of comfort ripped cruelly from their psyches and led into a nightmare of death and destruction. Everyday these millions of well-fed and juicy plump chickens are led to their doom. Only to be served up as lunch or dinner for hungry people around the world. The time has come for motorcyclists and other caring individuals to stand up and say stop!
It’s time we stood up and said “enough” we need a call to action. That’s why we have formed the “SAVE THE CHICKENS FOUNDATION”. Yes friends, only by forming a strong action awareness group can we hope to end this slaughter. And as everyone knows it takes money to get the attention this cause so rightfully deserves.
That’s why we are inviting you to our first ride to “SAVE THE CHICKENS’ FUND RAISING LUNCHEON. The cost is just $25 and a wonderful and tasty roast chicken entrée will be served. Hope you can attend. Please RSVP soonest. ¶ 8:24 PM 0 comments

2nd Annual ride to Death Valley - 2009
The return to Death Vally trip of 2009.
Wayne and I rode up on Friday 11/06, another group consisting of Johney, Johney's cousin Cody, Johney's brother Mika, Chuck, John R., Luis and Minita on their V-Star 1300 and Joe on his new Victory Vision came riding up on Saturday 11/07. Joe rode up seperately to meet up with a group known as the Bob Hayes group consisting of about 20 riders from all over. This is a once a year meeting for the Bob Hayes group and it has been going on for about 18 years.
We visited many of the same spots as last year on Saturday and Sunday including Scotty's castle, Ubehebe Crater, the Furnace Creek Ranch after visiting Dante's View and Bad Water the day before as well. Wayne and I did not go to Dante's View on Sunday with Johney and the others as we had already been there on Saturday. We went to sight see at Zabriski Point just south of Furnace Creek on the way to Dantes View road.
Riding with Johney, Cody and his brother Mika is misleading. We followed them at an ever increasing distance, but did catch-up with them eventually at every stop.
The other members of the group on Sunday decided to start out a little later and headed for Dante's View, they did see the sign that says DANTE'S VIEW 13 MILES, but missed the arrow pointing to the right down a narrow little road. Instead they continued on to Shoshone half way to Baker before turning around and missing it again on the way back. Oh well, something for next year.

NO real incidents on the road for the most part, no mechanical issues and all arrived back home safe on Monday and maybe a bit tired. Total miles 1,020 for me.
Gas in Furnace Creek was $4.12, gas in StovePipe Wells just 26 miles away $3.15.
