  RIDE TO WRIGHTWOOD

Finally made the ride up to Wrightwood and it turned into a big and fun trip of over 150 miles. Went with Jimmy, who is a very experienced rider and we finally made a successful trip on Rte 138, even if it was going the other way. Headed up the 15 Freeway to 138 turn-off then headed west to Lone Pine Rd. whichs heads directly up to Wrightwood. It parallels the San Andreas fault for quite a way along a low ridge just east of the road. There are some twists and turns but none too severe and I handled them all with little or no problem. Always concerned about going to fast or too slow for the cars behind me but it went well. My new leaning skills are really paying off in better control going into turns and curves. It has really made a difference. I had been fighting the natural lean and weight of the motorcycle so it made turns choppier or at least had less control.

Drove around in Wrightwood, had lunch at the Grizzly Cafe and took the pictures above and then headed back down Rte 2 the Angeles Crest Hwy back to 138. At 138, the road was blocked to the south so we headed north into Phelan and Hesperia. Connected up with 15 again but this time at the TOP of Cajon Pass. Well it turned out to be a piece of cake after all. Traffic was light and we headed back to Jimmy's home in Upland and I proceeded on to Orange County via the 10 Freeway to the 57 and south on the 57 to Chapman Ave. Took about 4 hours with stops.

TOTAL MILES ON THE V-STAR 1100 NOW OVER 5,500. Came with 1,370 when I bought it.

So far I put 26,500 miles on the Road Star since I bought it 09/27/07, The ODO shows 28,300 total miles. If you have a Google ID you can leave a comment but it will be reviewed first ...
