Buyer’s Guide: Where to Buy Motorcycle Gear Online

If you’re new to motorcycle riding, picking out your riding gear is the most fun you’ll have apart from buying your first bike.  The only problem is figuring out the who, what and where.  I distinctly remember how clueless I felt when it came time for me to buy my first batch of gear.  Hopefully I can shed some light on the subject for you and help point you in the right direction.

Let’s get right to the meat of the subject and list some of the better online stores I’ve dealt with for buying sport riding gear.  This isn’t intended to be the mother list of all motorcycle gear stores; just the few I’ve had good personal experiences with and that I know are reputable.  If you have questions about particular brands and their quality, just call these guys up and ask them or look for their online reviews.

HelmetHarbor.com
There might not be a better place to get your helmet from.  It’s free to become a member; once you sign into the site you’ll see the unlocked member prices on all the helmets.  For non-closeout helmets, you’ll be really hard pressed to find lower prices.  If you don’t live in Arizona (where HH is based), you’ll get free shipping and pay no sales tax.  I’ve purchased two helmets there and have always had excellent service.  Todd (the owner) also does good video reviews of many of the helmets they sell.

SportbikeTrackGear.com
Nice prices, excellent video reviews and a fast-loading site make this a great place to browse and buy your gear from.  They’ve also got a nice function on the site that allows you to quickly specify your bike, then browse all the compatible parts and accessories.  Nice selection too.

MotorcycleSuperstore.com
It’s the merchandising arm of Motorcycleusa.com, one of the better online motorcycle magazines.  A huge selection, good prices and nice service help it make the list.

NewEnough.com
Don’t let the name fool you; they started out selling used leathers but everything they sell is brand new now.  Their selection isn’t the biggest but prices are decent and customer service is top-notch.

CycleSector.com
If you need new tires, check these guys first.  I’ve purchased a couple of sets from them at prices far below what the other vendors wanted.  Great prices on many other items and good customer service too.
